28 May 2013 - OUR MISSION

Our mission is to bring awareness and raise money to support those who fight the challenge every single day with Cystic Fibrosis.  My name Kathi Bezeredi and I have a Son with Cystic Fibrosis.   Cystic Fibrosis is a life threatening disease that effects 30,000 Americans, this disease effects the lungs and digestive system.  making those with CF hard to breath and gain weight.  There is currently no cure and the average life expectantly is 37.4 years.
The Cystic Fibrosis is hosting its first ever XTREME Hike for Cystic Fibrosis on the Massanutteen Trail in Front Royal, Va on September 27th, 2013.  This hike is just that EXTREME!  Starting at 4am and going through 7pm that night; to accomplish a 31 mile hike to raise money for those with Cystic Fibrosis.  These funds will go to help sponsor and develop new therapies and treatments for those with this disease.
Joining me on this journey in September are my best friend Margaret "Fred"Douglas and my Sister In Law Gina Eller.  When we first saw the email come out out this XTREME hike, I just laughed and said cool this is an event I can volunteer my time too and help the cause that is near and dear to my heart.  And now after talking about it for a few months and my support girls Fred and Gina;  we are now actually signed up to do the 31 mile hike!  And we each have to raise a minimum of $2,500 each!
As we started working with a personal trainer in January and started water aerobics, hitting the gym and started doing trail hiking to start conditioning the more we talked about how col it would be to start a book logging our experiences while training and here we are with our own blog.  As we start logging our hiking adventures, training classes and supporting other community events to get ready for this extreme hike; we hope you will enjoy some of our adventures, ideas and photos as much as we do!

Please email us anytime if you have questions, ideas on how to train, raise funds or just words of encouragement!  We will greatly appreciate any and all!

Thanks,
Kathi BEZ Bezeredi
